Join LAdobe on Thursday night, August 26th at 7pm at Border Stylo at 729 Seward St. in Hollywood. Parking is available on the street for free after 6pm and the agency also has a private lot they may open for members to park as well. Remember, all LAdobe events and meetings are always free to attend with no RSVP required.

For our September meeting we are excited to offer a special night focusing on the future of Web Design. Mainly around HTML5 which is slowly becoming a web standard. With all the changes going on in web design from new standard to designing for devices, all web designers and developers need to keep up.

With that in mind, we have two presenters who have new ideas that will change the way you design for the web. We’ll start out with James Lee of Stiqr, which is a new way to update your web design straight from a browser using AJAX-based Drag and Drop tools. Even CMS sites created in WordPress can be updated on the fly, on the road, with this new app.

Finally, we’re pleased to bring along Amit Patel of Amit Patel Designs and Studio 314 in Hollywood. Amit will explain HTML5 and it’s new tags in detail. Amit has spoken at Adobe MAX and other major conferences on the future of web design and we’re pleased to have him share his viewpoints on this special night.

We’ll have a number of HTML5 related books to give away from all our major publishing sponsors as well Photoshop plugins from Alien Skin Software. We’ll also have free beverages from Function as well as Groundwork Coffee provided by Border Stylo. So we hope to see you in Hollywood at Border Stylo on the 23rd!

For our August meeting we are excited to offer our first video night in a long time! Actually, you’ll first learn a bit about audio production as our User Group Manager, dataTV’s Adam Bell, will show you a hidden gem in Creative Suite’s Production Bundle, Soundbooth. Adobe Soundbooth is a way to professionally edit audio like most of the leading producers use. In this session, Adam will show you how to create a ringtone from an audio track, edit it down, add some filters to improve the sound and much more. It’s our first Soundbooth session and it will provide a point of entry for anyone looking to get into audio production. Adam will also review the previous week’s FITC/SF and all of Adobe’s announcements from the keynotes to the floor.

JF Wacom Mug 250 August 26: Video Night with After Effects and SoundboothFor our main presentation, we are pleased to offer book author and head of Ojai’s Pixel Painter, Jeff Foster. Jeff will do a major deep dive into the new features of After Effects CS5 which produces most of the motion graphics seen in film and TV. If you’ve ever been interested in broadcast design and animation, this is going to be a special night for you to learn how incredible this application is. If you were at our meeting in May, no better authority than Photoshop Cafe’s Colin Smith gave Jeff high marks for his knowledge and presentation skills. So it will be a very memorable meeting.

We’ll have a number of After Effects and other video related books to give away from all our major publishing sponsors as well as After Effects plugins from Digital Anarchy and Photoshop plugins from Alien Skin Software. Adobe MAX hits downtown LA: October 23-27

index marquee thumb 500x162 3248 Adobe MAX hits downtown LA: October 23 27Once again, Adobe is bringing its’ biggest event of the year, the annual Adobe MAX conference, to downtown Los Angeles at the Conventino Center. For almost an entire week, the greatest minds in the creative and technical worlds will converge to learn and share their knowledge of anything and everything in Adobe related products to the masses.  And you, the LAdobe members will get to benefit! You’ll see some of the best speakers, teachers and presenters showcase the latest Adobe products and how to integrate the new features of Creative Suite 5 into your design and website programming toolbox. Not to mention the nighttime Birds of a Feather sessions and the amazing party like last year at Nokia Pleza at LA Live. It promises to be one amazing event and we hope you can join us at LAdobe while you’re there. Passes start at $200 for the 3 day Exhibit Floor passes, to one day passes and of course, the entire she-bang. Group discounts are also available.

When you do sign up, we hope you’ll show LAdobe some love as during the signup process on Page 2, they will ask for the User Group you support. Suggest LAdobe as the group and Adam Bell as your Group Leader. Why is this important? Because Adobe wants to see representation of active User Group Communities in each city and this will prove LA has a viable community and that they’ll renew their lease with the Los Angeles Convention Center and MAX will return on a regular basis. Who needs Vegas or San Francisco when we can have the event here and Adobe can  bring more business to a city and region that desperately needs it. A little extra typing will make a big difference.

And if you’ve already signed for MAX and feel like it’s now to late to share that love, don’t worry. You still can! Just go to your MAX profile and update your information to include LAdobe as your Useer Group. Then resave your profile. Simple as that.

We look forward once again to meet and greet the best in the Adobe stratosphere at MAX in late October. And keep checking out our site for update on MiniMAX X on October 27th. It’s LAdobe’s way of giving back to the local Adobe community.
