December 11: Adobe Touch Apps with Rick Miller

LAdobe: the Los Angeles Adobe User Group along with the various Los Angeles area Adobe User Group are pleased to present a special event on te new Adobe Touch Apps which will take place Sunday, December 11 at a special ‘brunch’ time of 11am at Indie Desk on 816 South Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles. Admission to the event is totally free and parking will be available at meters as well as various parking lots and garages in Downtown Los Angeles.

This event will allow you to experience first hand the new Adobe Touch Apps for Android tablets (and coming soon for iPad’s in 2012). If you’re unaware, the Touch Apps were first introduced at the Adobe MAX Conference in Downtown Los Angeles back on Monday, October 2nd. These apps include:

Expand where and how you work …. after the presentation We will take a break and go out to take pictures in the area, once we are back in the studio we will upload images via Adobe Creative Cloud and create. Whether you use a stylus or just your fingertip, intuitive touchscreen features provide easy, precise control for a variety of creative tasks. Adobe Touch Apps, you can purchase the apps in advance of the event for Android via the Market, or for iPad via the iTunes store.

rick December 11: Adobe Touch Apps with Rick MillerOur presenter for our brunch event is Rick Miller. Rick is a Senior Solutions Engineer for Education at Adobe Systems where he helps Adobe’s education customers find the solutions they need to enhance the pedagogical experiences of their students. Before working at Adobe Systems, Rick taught Photoshop/Digital Imaging at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, and Digital Design at Cal Poly Pomona University, so he’s cognizant of the unique challenges that face educators. Rick is an Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop, Lightroom, Acrobat X, and Acrobat Connect. Additionally, Rick is an expert in color management. Moreover, Rick is a professional photographer who is certified on the Leaf and Phase One digital backs, and trains users on the Hasselblad digital back. Rick continues to consult with Law Enforcement agencies in the Forensic application of Photoshop.

Since this is a ‘brunch’ time event, we’ll have coffee as well as cookies from Gamer Food and Nana’s Banana Bread. There may be additional food and drink offered at the event as well. Prizes include a copy of Creative Suite 6.6 as well as other prizes to be announced at a later date.

Abobe releases new Touch Apps to Android Market

adobe touch apps 300x185 Abobe releases new Touch Apps to Android MarketAdobe just released a series of new apps to the Android Market which are the six new apps previously announced at Day One of the Adobe MAX User Conference on October 2, 2011. Adobe Touch Apps let you design, edit, and elegantly present your creative work anywhere, with intuitive touchscreen features that provide easy, precise control for a variety of creative tasks.  After downloading Adobe Touch Apps, customers can set up Adobe Creative Cloud accounts to seamlessly transition files between Adobe Touch Apps and Adobe Creative Suite products like Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver to further refine work or to share.

The Apps include:

  • Photoshop Touch: Transform photos using Photoshop Effects
  • Proto: Create Website frameworks easily
  • Ideas: Design virtually anywhere
  • Debut: Present Creative Suite documents anywhere, anytime
  • Collage: Capture Ideas and Concepts using Moodboards
  • Kuler: Create color palettes for your projects

The requirements to use these new Touch Apps are as follows:

  • Android 3.1 or higher
  • Minimum screen size of 8.9”
  • Minimum screen resolution of 1280 by 800.

So tablets like the Sony Tablet S and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 are perfect for these new apps. Smaller tablets like the Vizio tablet are not recommended for use with these new apps.

Look for an announcement regarding availability of Touch Apps for iOS (iPad) in the first quarter of 2012.
