LAdobe and the entire Los Angeles and Orange County Adobe communities are pleased to be present Sidekick 2014 at the Art Institute of Los Angeles – Santa Monica located at 2900 31st St in Santa Monica. Please note the special start time of 7:30pm. Free, validated parking is available in the lots behind the building (up until 8pm), as well as on nearby streets.
Sidekick is held on the final night of the annual Adobe MAX User Cojnference. Sidekick was created as a taste of the annual MAX conference, for those locals in the area who could not attend MAX due to work-related issues. We’ll present four presenters who come from all facets of the creative and technical community from around the globe who are in town for MAX to share a brief version of their standard 60-90 minute presentations.
All presentations will last 25 minutes followed by a 5 minute Q&A session while the next presentation is being prepared. The event is presented in a rapid fire fashion. No breaks between sessions. So the entire event takes only 2 hours to complete.
This years presenters include the following:
Amy Balliett is Co-Founder and Chief Swiss Army Knife of Killer Infographics in Seattle. She has been using digital media to grow her own companies since she was 17, when she took on ownership of a combined arcade, ice cream parlor, and penny candy store near her hometown. She subsequently built a successful career in SEO and marketing before utilizing both her entrepreneurial spirit and her inner artist to co-found Killer Infographics, a firm leading the way in infographic and motion graphic design for some of the world’s largest brands. Balliett now spends her days meeting the multi-faceted demands of her title, Co-founder and Chief Swiss Army Knife of Killer Infographics; this includes managing the day-to-day workflow, overseeing projects, new product development, marketing and more. Pulling from her past and present digital strategies, she now enables clients worldwide to use visual communication in order to grow their brands, connect with customers, and ultimately find success.
Jeff I. Greenberg is a master trainer with J Greenberg Consulting and has two decades of experience as a Post-Production consultant and Master Instructor (trainer for other trainers) for Adobe, Apple, and Avid, specializing in the areas of editorial, workflow, compositing, sound, color grading and compression.
Keith Gilbert is a digital publishing consultant and educator, Adobe Certified Instructor, Adobe Community Professional, conference speaker, lynda.com author, and contributing writer for various publications. His work has taken him throughout North America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. During his 29 years as a consultant, his clients have included Adobe, Apple, Target, the United Nations, Best Buy, General Mills, Lands’ End, and Medtronic. James Lockman is a Principal Solution Consultant at Adobe, focusing on the Digital Publishing Suite and integrations between Adobe’s Creative and Marketing Clouds. Prior to joining Adobe, he ran his own consulting firm, providing training and consulting services around Adobe tools and services. He also owned and operated a variable data marketing services company.
James has a long history in print and publishing. Beginning with PageMaker in 1985, he has seen it all as the industry went from handset type to direct to plate to digital publishing on iPads. He is a frequent contributor to Adobe’s Developer Network, writing about DPS and Enterprise software.

James can be heard as a Game Announcer for FIRST Robotics competitions. He lives in Maine with his wife and three sons, where he makes maple syrup and plays the tuba.
